MILITARY CAMPS AT MT. MARTHA 1889-1973
Peter Muir will talk on the history of Balcombe Camp and surrounds and his time there as an apprentice.
Our next coffee morning is the ever popular “Show and Tell”. Bring a treasured item, photo or document to share with other Society memebers.
Werribee Park was home to the Chirnside family from the 1870’s, and the venue for much grand entertaining, the Mansion is furnished in the style of a wealthy family of the period.
The family empire was built on wool, and thousands of sheep were shorn at the nearby farm.
We will arrive at the Park to begin our guided tour of the Mansion at 11 a.m.
After lunch in the cafe, feel free to re-enter the Mansion for another look, or wander round the 10 hectares of European style gardens with magnificent old trees.
