Our next coffee morning – first for the year – is on Tuesday Feb. 9th at 10.30am in the CFA Meeting room, Nepean Highway Mornington. Our guest speaker Mick Wood is a member from UK and will tell about the London climate during the “Little Ice Age”. Mick was a member of the London Meteorological Archive unit. (like the BOM). Usual parking arrangements apply i.e. park in Separation Street as the Fire Station car park maybe needed by CFA people particularly if the weather is hot and windy…
Today’s guest speaker is Stuart Gooley who will talk about the Mornington Yacht Club and it’s history. This coincides with the display on show at the Old Post Office Museum. Usual car parking in Separation Street next to the CFA.
A very interesting bus trip to the Jewish Museum and Synagogue, Melbourne and St. Kilda Botanical Gardens. Lunch at your expense.
The Society will conduct a walk around historic Mornington Cemetery on Easter Monday March 28th 2016. Many of the early Mornington settlers and their families are buried there and each has a story to tell.
Your guide will be historian and author Val Wilson OAM.
The walk will leave the Cemetery gates, Craigie Road (near Nepean Highway) at 1.30pm. The cost is $5.00 per person. Please be at the gates 15 minutes prior. A comfortable pair of shoes is recommended.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Rob Austin the MPSC Cultural Heritage Manager is unable t give his talk as advertised. This will be rescheduled for a later coffee morning. Instead we will welcome Diane White who will give her entertaining talk on the history of Mt. Eliza. Diane was to talk at a later coffee morning but has agreed to bring her talk forward. Cost is still $5.00 per person. All welcome, come and enjoy an entertaining couple of hours in friendly company.
Our guest speaker is the Shire Cultural Heritage Manager, Rob Austin. Due to unforeseen circumstances Rob was unable to speak last month but has kindly agreed to attend our May coffee morning. Cost is a very reasonable $5.00 per person. All welcome to come and enjoy a tea or coffee and a friendly couple of hours.
In conjunction with the Mornington Jazz Festival, The Mornington & District Historical Society will open the Old Post Office Museum on Sunday June 12 and Monday June 13 from 10 am closing at 4 pm. We will offer guided walks on both days:-
Morning – Main Street Walk at 10.30 am
Afternoon – Esplanade and Park Walk at 1.30 pm.
Cost for all walks is $5.00 per person.
PLEASE BE AT THE MUSEUM 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO START.
The Museum is located at the corner of Main Street & Esplanade Mornington.
